A key quality of Derek’s 25 years of design experience is the ability to creatively bridge from fundamental sustainable design principles in the early stages of concept design to the detailed design, coordination and integration of high-performance building systems during contract documentation.

His work has focused on complex, multi-use facilities requiring sophisticated, interacting building technologies and includes research laboratories and pilot plants for major urban health facilities. He has 10 years experience designing high-performance, sustainable workplaces for private and public sector clients. These projects have benefited from Derek’s knowledge of the C-2000, CBIP and LEED® programs, and from his practical experience with the integrated design process. One of his most recent projects includes the largest Building Integrated Photovoltaic installation in the country.
