Changes over the last ten years and sustained growth within ABSA gave the organization an opportunity to construct a new facility in the Edmonton Research and Development Park. This $5.2 million facility houses ABSA’s administration, inspectors and certi cation space, enables employees to continue to provide safety, leadership and education. The building combines functionality with a unique aesthetic that reflects the organization’s forward-looking attitude and environmental consciousness. Sustainable strategies include the use of underground parking, extensive daylight, under oor air distribution and high performance, well-insulated walls, windows and roofs. Occupant comfort is enhanced by operable windows and attractive workspaces.
By integrating environmental principles into the design and construction of the building, ABSA has demonstrated its dedication to the long-term success not only of their own organization and clients, but to the community as a whole. ABSA, the Pressure Equipment Safety Authority has a long history in Alberta. The building combines functionality with a unique aesthetic that re ects the organization’s forward-looking attitude and embodies the values of ABSA: Safety, Leadership and Education.

POST OCCUPANCY EVALUATION
A Post Occupancy Evaluation (POE) is a formal way of determining whether a recently occupied building is performing as was intended in its programming and design. The POE is used to evaluate the actual performance of the occupied building against the design goals and strategies.
Manasc Isaac has made Post Occupancy Evaluations a standard practice in its sustainable building design. ABSA is the first building to be evaluated by the firm.

"When ABSA decided to proceed with the design and construction of its head office in Edmonton, we knew we had one chance to get it right. Looking back, there is no doubt that we made the right choice asking Manasc Isaac to be our architect. We were very happy with the end result, a building that is a pleasure to work in, is energy efficient, and although fairly simple and functional, receives a lot of complements from visitors.
We have no hesitation in recommending Manasc Isaac as an architectural firm that is professional, competent, attentive and leading edge in sustainable design.”
