The Beit Horim design provides a home for elders and a warm gathering place for the Jewish community. It brings seniors and youth together in a friendly setting with music, laughter, tears and stories.

The design of Beit Horim is inspired by the energy and enthusiasm of the modernist buildings in the Rio Terrace community and the sense of optimism and hope for the future that is embodied in the architecture of the area. It will represents a period in time during the mid 20th Century when all things seemed possible – a time when many of the residents of Beit Horim were youths themselves.

The building is designed for comfort in winter and summer, with a winter garden and a patio outside the dining room. Kosher kitchens, large rooms for couples and smaller, single-living quarters provide a comfortable space for its residents.

The residence addition is the first step in the regeneration of the community centre site. It is an urban infill approach in a mature suburban setting. The residence will increase the density of the community and broaden its social and generation base.
