Designed in partnership with the people of Driftpile, this building honours the presence of the many eagles that find their nesting place on the lands of the Driftpile First Nation. The school is in the image of an eagle feather, representing the spirit of wisdom and strength.
Starting at the kindergarten, the smallest end of the building, the roof line gradually slopes upwards over the elementary school wing, the entrance and the high school wing terminating at the tallest element, the gymnasium. The increasing height of the building represents the growth and development of each student intellectually, spiritually and physically, from their first day of kindergarten through to the end of high school.
"We wanted ourselves and our community to be reflected in our new school. Manasc Isaac Architects were the first ones to really listen to us. The building is beautiful and majestic; visitors are very impressed with the curves. Our children and grandchildren will be happy with the school for years to come."
Peter Freeman, Driftpile First Nation
