East Edmonton Health Centre

Edmonton, AB, Canada

Health Care

Completed

March, 2009

  • Overview
  • Recognitions

The new East Edmonton Health Care Centre provides a range of medical and community services to residents of central Edmonton.

In size, form and appearance, the new Centre relates to the historical significance of Cromdale School which will be incorporated into the overall design and also to its situation in a mixed-use neighbourhood of multi-family and single detached residents, commercial zones and recreational parks.  The project will contribute to a pedestrian-friendly neighbourhood by retaining the majority of the mature trees, maintaining the building height at a scale comparable to its neighbours and maximizing green space.

The project team acknowledged the diversity of the community in both planning and building design while striving to create a facility that meets the complex needs of the client groups. Inspired by other modern buildings in the neighbourhood and by the vision of this as a sustainable project, the new building boasts clean, contemporary lines.
