Owned by the Provincial Government, this 10-storey architectural icon has been maintained in a steady-state condition by the provincial government despite having been unoccupied for almost 20 years. With the current shortage of office space in Edmonton for provincial government employees, Manasc Isaac  was commissioned to conduct a detailed exploration into the feasibility of re-using the Federal Building to provide an attractive, functional and contemporary workplace for provincial government employees.

Another important objective of our study was to develop an urban design concept to extend the park-like setting of the Legislature Grounds to the south, ultimately heightening the connection between these grounds with the rest of the downtown core and creating a welcoming physical environment for workers and visitors.
