The new Community Cultural Centre shares a site with the existing High School. The overall vision was that the new building relate visually to the school, but be distinguishable from it.

The Centre is easily seen from the main road, is accessible by the public from an adjacent car park and serviced “back of house” by a road from the north.

The “blue spine” of the school continues in the new centre. The semi-circular form of the west end of the school is reflected in the curve of the foyer.

Safety and Security is important at the same time as allowing public access. To this end there is a separation of Community Meeting Rooms wing from the Hall/Foyer, to enable the two parts of the building to have separate access control.

The Morinville Cultural Community Centre was a Design-Build project successfully completed by Manasc Isaac Architects and PCL. The Centre officially celebrated its Grand Opening on June 11, 2011.

“This is a wonderful facility, a great addition for our community,” he said. “I firmly believe that a strong arts community is strong and fundamental to a well-balanced and long-term sustainable community, which we are making sure Morinville is.”  - Mayor Lloyd Bertschi, Town of Morinville

“People are very proud of this building. We’ve built something that can be accessed, used and celebrated by everyone in town and in the region. It’s really going to be a gathering place.”  - Laurie Stalker, Arts and Culture Manager, Town of Morinville (Article in St. Albert Gazette June 8, 2011)

“It’s a wonderful facility. It gives Morinville the opportunity to showcase the arts in terms of performance and in terms of an art gallery. For a similar size community, this is phenomenal. I’ve never seen anything like it.”  - Allan Menduk, Vice Principal, Morinville Community High School

"Vivian, please pass on my congratulations your team for the exceptional design you provided the Town of Morinville through our design-build submission. You were able to develop a cost effective sustainable design from very little program information. Offering flexible choices to the Town created an environment where they felt engaged and a part of the process even through the challenges they faced during procurement."     - Scott A. Matheson, R.E.T., G.S.C., Director Business Development, Alberta, PCL Construction Management Inc.
