Groundbreaking sustainable buildings

Spruce Grove City Hall Renovation

Spruce Grove, AB, Canada

Municipal, Interior Design, and Office

Completed

September, 2004

  • Overview
  • Sustainability

One of the City of Spruce Grove's Core Strategies is a commitment to delivering sustainable services to improve the quality of life of its residents. Naturally, when the need for a more efficient workspace arose, they were looking for an architectural firm that was committed to the same environmental principles. Manasc Isaac re-planned its three-storey administrative building with a focus on customer service delivery, significantly improved environmental efficiency and superior staff comfort.

The renovations took place in part while the building was occupied and operating.
The building met the requirements of the Canadian Building Incentive Program and is rated 26.2% more efficient than a similarly sized building constructed using current best practices. To date, savings of 38% of the natural gas bills have been documented. 35% water use reductions are also proven as a result of replacement of fixtures.

This was the first renovation in Canada to achieve LEED® Certified status.
