Sustainable features include:
- Use of the building’s three story atrium to maximize stack effect.
- Heat exchangers use available cold water supply to generate building cooling.
- High efficiency, indirect lighting for superior light quality and daylight integration minimizes lighting energy use.
- Use of recycled materials (such as concrete, fly ash and rebar), rapidly renewable materials (such as linoleum and tectum) and low VOC emitting materials for adhesive paints and finishes.
- Water conservation measures include a storm water management system that minimizes storm water runoff, use of low water fixtures, waterless urinals and efficient washer and dryer units.
- Energy efficiency features:
• The shape of the building is almost cubic, making it the most efficient for energy conservation.
• Favourable rate of Volume to Surface Area allows low Watt per Square Meter ratio.
• Day-lighting is used not only as the source of light, but also as an element that provides heating.
• The building uses optimized wall assembly to minimize the levels of energy escape through the window openings.
• High-performance Visionwall used in atrium controls heat-gain by day and loss due to radiation at night.
• The use of exterior sunshades controls the amount of natural light entering the building and minimizes the glare.
