Groundbreaking sustainable buildings

Stony Plain Composite High School

Stony Plain, AB, Canada

K-12 Education

Construction

March, 2009

  • Overview
  • Sustainability

This project will bring all of the amenities from Memorial Composite High School and nearby rural schools into a larger, more comfortable space. The newly renovated and expanded school will house 1500 students and 100 staff. The project will occupy the existing school building with additions to accommodate a new gymnasium and science wing. The completed school will be a healthy, innovative and inspiring environment for students, parents and the community, leading to a bright and prosperous future for high school students in the Stony Plain community.

In keeping with Alberta Infrastructure and Transportation’s sustainable buildings policy, this building was designed to meet the Silver level of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) rating system and will serve as the first of many steps towards a greener future for the Town of Stony Plain.
