Strathcona Care Centre

Sherwood Park, AB, Canada

Health Care

Completed

December, 1997

  • Overview
  • Recognitions

This accessible one-storey facility is separated into five resident wings. Each wing consists of private and semi-private resident rooms grouped around their own activity and dining areas.

All resident spaces, both private and shared, are filled with daylight and have views to the fully landscaped courtyards between each wing of the building. Three of these courtyards are used as activity, meeting and relaxation areas.

Sophisticated colour schemes for rooms and corridors creates the ambience of a small
hotel. Physical supports, such as continuous wood handrails, are visible to the aged eye and placed throughout the building to aid the independent movement of the residents.
