Swerve Living is an affordable housing and mixed-use development. It caters to people of different incomes and backgrounds who  share a commitment to sustainable living. The building will blend retail/commercial uses at the ground floor with 4-storeys of residential units in a range of unit sizes. Public spaces will be distributed throughout the building encouraging social interaction and fostering a sense of community. The combination of residential and commercial spaces encourages pedestrian traffic and activity, creating an attractive landmark building that will contribute to the vibrancy of the downtown community.

Reinforcing the City of Red Deer’s desire for a more walkable community, full relaxation of the City’s parking law has been obtained to allow Swerve Living to be a car-free development, helping to reduce CO2 emissions. Residents may choose to create a car cooperative to jointly purchase and share a Smart or hybrid car.

The development is designed to be one of the most energy efficient buildings of its kind in North America, with 91% energy savings and a goal of Net Zero in 10 years.
