Following 2011’s devastating wildfire, our relationship with the Town of Slake Lake continues with the design of this unique community and cultural destination.

The original Slave Lake Government Centre and Library was only a year old when 2011’s fire burned it to the ground. During the course of the rebuild, a conversation began about how a new building could commemorate the tragedy, and offer new community and cultural services to the town.

Manasc Isaac was thrilled to be selected as the architect for The Legacy Centre, which will offer daycare services, a new Elks hall, theatre, FireSmart information centre and public space.

These facilities will honour the spirit and the courage of Slave Lake’s residents, and serve as a community hub for decades to come!

Scope: New Construction
Completion: 2016
Location: Slave Lake, Alberta

It is easy to get a sense of pride! The exterior is gorgeous and I am mostly impressed by the roof playground, I don’t think there is any better in the North, at least, and probably very unique in Alberta. — Tony Signorini, Director, Capital Projects, Alberta Infrastructure
