Our team likes to practice what we preach, and this means bringing our green building strategies home.

Manasc Isaac partner and architect Shafraaz Kaba purchased a corner lot on Edmonton’s Ada Boulevard, overlooking the River Valley. He wanted his home to articulate his passion for sustainable design, and decided to target net-zero ready efficiency.

The house is a blend of modern technology and passive strategies. It soaks up the sun, both drawing power from solar panels and filling the interior with daylight and heat. This enables the home to function without a gas line; an anomaly in Alberta!

The structure’s footprint is narrow, maximizing daylight penetration to all rooms of the house while allowing space on the lot to grow food in an edible, permaculture garden.
