The East Edmonton Health Centre integrates the historical Cromdale School into an aesthetically and functionally clean, contemporary and dynamic facility.

Serving a diverse community with a wide range of medical and community services, the building’s programme is effectively a one-stop-shop for services such as home care, communicable disease control, school health, speech and language services, among others.

Nestled in an established neighbourhood and integrating an historical building, the site is very pedestrian friendly and surrounded by mature trees that were retained to preserve green space.

The success of the East Edmonton Health Centre is due in no small part to the highly collaborative workshop process that allowed the community to participate in the conversation. The scale of the building was kept to a height comparable to its neighbours, in order to achieve community buy-in.

Not only did [Manasc Isaac] provide a beautiful and functional design, they had the skill set and depth to help steer the project through the sensitivities of the community consultations. — Marianne Stewart, Vice President of Alberta Health Services
