Marking a phase of modernization of the City’s Southside storage facility for street maintenance equipment, the Southwest Yard Administration building provides locker and lunchroom facilities for 100 workers, as well as vibrant offices for senior yard personnel.

Inside, visitors and staff are treated to a spacious central hall lit by clerestory windows and an open beamed curved roof.

From the street, the building’s bold form and snowplow-shaped lunchroom speak to the work that the building’s occupants do. With an exterior primarily clad in brick, the structure pays homage to the building it replaced. Elsewhere, dual-coloured metal cladding lends visual interest.

The Southwest Yard Administration Building securely and comfortably balances functional requirements with distinctive design.
