The new Yellowknife GNWT Office Building is a seven-storey tower created to house the Government of the Northwest Territories Public Works and Services.

In alignment with the GNWT’s mandate for energy efficient buildings and low operating costs, the tower boasts many efficient features including high efficiency plumbing fixtures, heat recovery ventilation systems, direct digital controls, and energy efficient lighting. Its innovative biomass heating system connects to several of the neighbouring buildings, displacing approximately 274,000 liters of heating oil and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 785 tonnes every year.

Bright colours integrated to the building facade add vibrancy to the streetscape, providing a visual lift in a location that is often blanketed in winter weather.
